Review: Mizon Pore Clearing Push Out Volcanic Gommage

Today I'll be reviewing the Mizon Pore Clearing Push Out Volcanic Gommage (which means 'to erase or exfoliate'). I've always liked clay masks since my skin has always been on the oily side and they're pretty good at reducing oil and clearing out pores. I also really like the Mizon brand as their All in One Snail Repair Cream is a product that has served me very well in the past. I purchased this online at the Mizon minishop on Gmarket for KRW12,400 for 60g of product.

What it promises:
"Volcanic ash extract from Jeju island absorbs excessive sebum and skin wastes to tighten pores"

Packaging:
Straightforward plastic pot with a twist top, but no spatula is provided, so if you don't like dipping your fingers you can always buy one at cosmetics or dollar stores.

Texture and Scent:
After my disappointment with the horrid texture of the Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mask a few years ago, I was very pleased to see that this mask has a lovely, creamy texture. It's so simple to apply and dries pretty quickly, but is still very easy to rinse off after wetting your face and massaging the product into the skin. Anyone who's tried a clay mask knows that the scent is nothing to write home about as it tends to have a slight wet soil smell to it.

My Thoughts:
I didn't really expect much from this clay mask, if I can perfectly honest. The price was good and I was simply looking for a bit of pampering, but was pleasantly surprised to see that this mask actually works pretty well. Instead of leaving it on my skin for the recommended 3 minutes, I left it on for about 10~12 minutes and after rinsing, my pores were unclogged and my skin was left feeling fresh and baby soft. It didn't tighten my pores as far as I could notice, but I don't really have a problem with particularly enlarged pores, so it's not really something I care about too much.

While this mask isn't particularly drying, it is meant for oily skin, so I would advise against using it if you have dry skin as it could exacerbate it. As for those of you with oily or combination skin, I highly recommend trying this.
